The city of Parkville revealed plans to tear down the Historic Power Plant building on Main Street to build a new road. In addition to tearing down the Historic Power Plant building, the city plans to seize at least four other private properties, and possibly more.
This proposal from the city will destroy the fabric of Historic Downtown Parkville, hurt local shopkeepers and create safety concerns for families.
We, the undersigned, are opposed to the use of eminent domain in downtown Parkville. We believe downtown needs to remain unaltered and protected.
We ask the city to withdraw all proposals and work directly with property owners and residents to find a practical solution to parking.
Tearing down any buildings to create a road and parking lot is NOT the right plan for downtown.
